Post Process Software For Free

Canva bought Affinity and decided to release it to the world for free:
Affinity

But .. (there's always a "but", isn't there ?)
Yes it's free, but ...

Laters !

I'm skeptical for another reason, since Canva is using AI  :o

Oh, you don't have to use the AI features of Affinity.
You can run Affinty without it by not register a Canva Premium account (starting at $120.00 a year per person)

What makes me suspicious about it is that there is nothing to stop Canva from putting the whole thing behind a paywall in the near future and make a subscription model of it.
... and the fact that I'm perfectly fine where I am with my PhS SC6.

There is the quote, "  If you are getting it for free,  then you are the product."

or said another way,   "If you're not paying for the product, you are the product."

This saying highlights the idea that free services often profit from users' data or attention.

I would always rather pay a one time fee for a perpetual license, that works locally not connected to the internet type software,   than any type of dangling carrot marketing ploy.

@John
yes, I saw it and 120 bucks is a hell of a lot of money.
Yeah, maybe I could give it a try  :D

@Tenser
Isn't that the idea behind open source products?
If I could, I would help at once to make a open source product better.
People working together is something wonderful.
Or maybe I haven't understood what you mean (since english isn't my first language).

Actually, I posted a video on Adobe from Jazza some time ago on my Bluesky account.
In the discription there was this Github link to a lot of alternatives to Adobe sheit,
Let me see if I can find it ...
